Sick of slow / unreliable ADSL broadband?

We can boost your connection speed typically by 1.5mb....or in some cases, by 4mb!

Who Will This Benefit?

Any online gamers will find this service essential - it can even help lower in-game ping rates. Anyone downloading music or using TV on-demand services such as BBC iPlayer would also benefit from the increased speeds and reliability, and any business who relies on emails and an internet connection for their day-to-day running. At the end of the day, you're probably paying for upto 8mb broadband - you may aswell get the highest speed you possibly can - it's not going to cost you any extra per month!

What Happens To My Phone Socket?

The main change we make is to your BT phone socket. We simply add a clever piece of BT eqipment within the socket which simply filters out electrical interference and static, which is the main cause of broadband slow-down. This will also help anyone using their broadband through an extension cable dramatically, as this is the most likely to be affected byelectrical interference. When we say electrical interference, this can range from TV's and microwave's, through to electric heaters and lighting - common items around any home / business.

It is important to mention at this point that it does not eliminate the need for ADSL filters, or do the same job as them - you will still require a filter on every piece of equipment connected to your broadband enabled phoneline.

Some lines have seen up to 4Mb increases in speed, although improvements of 1.5Mb were found to be more typical in a benchmark survey of 36,000 filtered lines.

Please note that although 7 out of 10 homes can benefit in some way, line speed improvements cannot be guaranteed in every case. This is because the level of interference on can vary dramatically from line to line, with people living further away from the exchange and people using extension cables in the house (not just for the broadband connection) seeing the greatest results.

The changes we make to the phone socket are fully BT Approved, and will not affect any warranties / create any issues with your phone line. You would still report faults as you usually would to BT. It will also not affect anythign with your broadband supplier - in most cases, they don't even need to know about the changes as it is not altering the service they supply in any way - it is simply improving your exisiting service and maximising your line to it's full potential.

Is My Telephone Socket Compatible?

Alot of people don't realise there is a number of different types of phone sockets BT have used over the years. The most common one - a NTE5 socket - is the one we need you to have in order to offer this service. It is pictured to the right of this.
It usually has a BT Piper logo, or BT initials in the top right-hand corner of it, and has a detachable lower plate (2 screws at the bottom of the socket illustrate this).

If you have a newer phone socket, with the BT Openreach logo on it, these already have filters installed as standard to reduce interference, so we are not able to help improve these connections.
If it is also a newly installed phone cable from the exchange (ie. a new house, recently fitted line) then the cabling used also includes interference protection so we are not able to offer our service on this.

If you're not sure if you have the correct type of socket, take a photo of it using a digital camera / mobile phone and either email it to us, or MMS it to our mobile number so we can help further.
